DISTRICT health chiefs are urging people to remember to pick-up repeat prescriptions ahead of the Bank Holiday.

Dr Andy Withers, of NHS Bradford Districts and Craven clinical commissioning groups, warns that many pharmacies will be closed on Monday, August 27.

And he said a failure to stock-up with medication could put extra pressure on already-stretched services.

“There can be a lot for people to remember as they get ready for the holiday,” said Dr Withers.

“However, if you forget your repeat prescription, you run the risk of becoming ill and putting pressure on services that are already busier than normal at this time of year.

“Our hard-working NHS staff are always here if you need them, but please use our services wisely and make sure your prescription is on the ‘to do’ list.

“A&E departments and the emergency services are often extremely busy over public holidays.”
