A KEIGHLEY food kitchen which operates once a month from within a local community centre has undergone a name change.

The facility, based in Hainworth Wood, has been running for six months and was previously called Keighley Community Kitchen. From now on it will instead be known as Hainworth Wood Community Kitchen.

Knowle Park resident Sajjad Sadiq, who set up the kitchen, explained the new name would distinguish it from a separate Keighley facility which has recently begun operating from Project 6.

Mr Sadiq said he and his team of fellow volunteers are continuing to serve up breakfasts and lunches on the first Sunday of each month in Hainworth Wood Community Centre. They began the free service for deprived people in Easter of this year.

Mr Sadiq said the facility is now included in the Keighley Food Poverty Action Partnership information card, which gives needy and vulnerable people details on where and when they can got for a free meal in Keighley.

"We want people to keep supporting us," he added. "We're delighted that we've been able to keep going for six months and we want as many people as possible to know we're here and to come and visit us for a meal.

"I expect we will be getting a bit busier once the weather gets colder."
