KEIGHLEY Albion Rugby League Club hosts a charity event this month in memory of a teenager from the town who died three years ago.

The occasion, which will be at the club’s base at Crossflatts Cricket Club on Saturday September 15, will commemorate Callum Mynott, with proceeds going towards the children and young people’s cancer charity CLIC Sargent.

There will also be fundraising for the rugby club itself, which is marking 70 years since it was formed.

Callum, who was known as “CJ”, played for Keighley Albion and lived in Stockbridge. He died of cancer in October 2015 aged 17.

The fundraiser runs from 11am till late. The main event of the day will be a CJ memorial rugby game starting at 3.30pm. The day also features a kids game at 11.30am, followed by a ladies game.

People can expect two live singers – Aimee Crowther at 5pm and Emzy Copperwaite at 6pm – followed by a band, along with tombola, a raffle, a barbecue, sweet stalls, a bouncy castle, a face painter, a jumble sale and other attractions.

Children will be able to get a close look at a visiting fire engine, and Callum Mynott memorial tops will be on sale. All are welcome to attend.

CLIC Sargent is the UK’s leading charity which supports children and young people with cancer, and their families. The group relies entirely on voluntary donations to fund its work.
