THE CURTAIN is coming down on a well-known Keighley function venue.

The Octagon, in Bradford Road, Sandbeds, is closing next month.

And all the fixtures and contents will be auctioned off.

The building – which originally housed an electronics company – was bought by John and Josie Pennington and converted to its present use, in 2012.

“The business has run successfully for over six years but after a lifetime in hospitality we want to look at other things,” said Mr Pennington (pictured), who lives at Riddlesden.

“Nationally we have seen the closure of one licensed premises every day, but against all odds we opened one and we must thank all our loyal customers for helping us to do so.”

The Octagon’s last day of trading will be on October 21.

Everything, from crockery and furniture to bar equipment, will then be auctioned off.

Viewing will take place on October 24 and 25, and the auction itself is at noon on October 28.

The building has been bought by an undisclosed company, which plans to use the site as its headquarters.
