FIVE local bands will play at a fundraising music night in Ilkley this autumn.

The event, called Sound Circus, takes place at the Hollygarth Social Club from 6pm to 11pm on Saturday October 13 and will raise money for Cancer Support Yorkshire.

The participating groups, with music covering everything from indie rock to alt-pop along with covers of classic hits, are: Skylights, Backspace, Stiletto, Temporal Storm and Remember Hillards.

Skylights are a York-based indie rock band, whose music has been played on BBC Radio 6 Introducing, while Stiletto are an acoustic duo from Skipton.

Backspace are a young alt pop band from Guiseley, who won this year’s Kirkstall Battle of the Bands.

Temporal Storm are a young, hard rock band from Bradford, and Remember Hillards is an established 70s and 80s covers band.

There are no age restrictions on the concert, and there will be free admission for under 12s accompanied by an adult.

The event will feature a raffle with prizes including cinema vouchers, a manicure, facial, and breakfast for two at Banyan in Ilkley.

Helen Gatiss, of Cancer Support Yorkshire, said: “This is set to be a brilliant event, organised by young people for the benefit of their community, and we really hope that as many people as possible will come along and support it.

“We work hard to support people in our local community who are affected by cancer in many practical ways, and we rely on the good will and charitable nature of the public to help fund our work.”

Tickets cost £6 and can be booked on Facebook via the Events section of the Cancer Support Yorkshire - Skipton Centre’s page, or by calling Helen Gatiss at Cancer Support Yorkshire on 01756 228088.
