MUSIC, film, comedy and poetry are among entertainments at the Square Chapel in Halifax this autumn.

The venue will be screening ‘Dirty, Filthy, Love’ with a question and answer session with Ian Puleston-Davies who will talk openly about living with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.

The first-ever two episodes of Doctor Who will be screened, followed by a Q&A with their director Waris Hussein.

Another TV classic will be screened, the harrowing nuclear war drama Threads, with actor Reece Dinsdale fielding questions about his role in the film.

The Orchestra of Square Chapel will play live during the screening of a First World War documentary, called The Battle of the Ancre and Advance of the Tanks.

The October half-term will see a draw along workshop for families, with renowned children’s book illustrator Nick Sharratt, on October 27 at 2pm.

Little ones are invited to join the creator of books like Shark in the Park and Pants for a family-friendly, fun filled draw-along for all ages.

He’ll be showing families how he creates characters like Tracy Beaker and Timothy Pope, and share his skills with children to help them invent their own crazy creatures.

There will be more family fun when the musicians of Eboracum Baroque join author Terry Deary to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Horrible Histories.

Take a journey through Georgian England and expect a gruesome tale or two along the way, on October 21, at 2.30pm.

Interspersed with Terry’s tales, hear music from the time by the composer, George Frederick Handel.

Felicity Ward, star of BBC Radio 4s series ‘Appisodes’ and a Netflix special, and co-host of the Guilty Feminist Podcast, performs on October 7.

Rob Newman arrives on November 23 to piece together a philosophy for our troubled times by sifting through 3,000 years of thought: from Pythagoras to artificial intelligence by way of Pavlov’s dogs, Jane Goodall’s chimpanzees and Frankie Howerd’s trousers.

Fresh from hosting his weekly hit radio show The Verb, poet, broadcaster, comedian and Bard of Barnsley, Ian McMillan is joined by Olympic composer Luke Carver Goss.

They promise a hilarious night of words, music and breath-taking comedy, featuring songs, stories and a musical created out of thin air, on December 14.
