STAFF from a Keighley-based family law specialist raised thousands for a charity which helps people affected by domestic violence.

Nineteen staff at Makin Dixon Solicitors Ltd took part in the Yorkshire Half Tough Mudder challenge at Skipton’s Broughton Hall, battling their way through 10 kilometres of mud and grime vocally supported by about 30 family members and friends.

Their gutsy combined effort raised a whopping total of £4,040 for Keighley’s Domestic Violence Services.

The assault course participants had initially raised £2,020 through an online fundraising page.

This already impressive sum was then doubled by the partners of Makin Dixon Solicitors Ltd.

A spokesman for the solicitors, which has its Keighley town centre offices in Cavendish Street, said: “The assault course was very demanding and included 13 obstacles.

“But our staff loved taking part, and they enjoyed it so much they want to do the full Tough Mudder next year!”

She added: “Domestic Violence Services is a domestic abuse charity which helps and supports families through abusive relationships in the Keighley area and north Bradford.

“Our firm continues to work with vulnerable clients who are victims of domestic abuse, obtaining injunctions against perpetrators and helping them with support and assistance in their time of need.

“We can also obtain orders to protect children, as all children’s safety is paramount and families need to be kept together.

“The money we’ve raised will go towards Domestic Violence Services in and around the Keighley and greater Bradford areas, as they continue working closely with victims of domestic abuse so families can live in safe and secure homes.”
