Albion Sports u18s 1

Steeton AFC u18s 7

STEETON Under-18s started their defence of the league title with an away fixture against Albion Sports at Bradford Academy.

The game was only five minutes old when the first goal was scored. It was the home team who took the lead when a long throw into the box deflected off the outside of the Albion striker's boot and found the corner of the net.

Steeton where on level terms five minutes later when Tom Crossland passed the ball from wide right to the edge of the Albion Sports' 18-yard line, finding Steeton's new signing Samuel Hudson, who moved the ball on to Dominic Westcott, coming in off the left, to tap the ball home.

Steeton soon doubled their tally when Crossland cut out a pass from the Albion Sports' keeper, he drove into the box and drilled the ball home into the bottom corner.

Jordan Daniels made it three shortly after when a nice pass from left-back Tom Ormerod found Jordan on Albion's 18-yard line and lofted the ball over their keepers' head into the net.

Steeton increased their lead when Harry Farnell robbed their defender 25 yards from goal, drove forward into the box and with a tidy finish tucked the ball into the bottom right-hand corner of the net past the stranded Albion keeper, taking Steeton into half-time with a comfortable 4-1 lead.

Steeton continued to carve open Albion's high backline with through balls time and time again and should have scored more goals, but wasteful finishing and good goalkeeping kept the score at 4-1. This was until Will Kaye slid Harry Farnell in down the right- hand side he crossed a lovely back post ball only for Albion skipper Jacob McNulty to put into his own net.

It was soon six when Dominic Westcott slid a ball through for Will Kaye who, under the challenge of the Albion's keeper, skipped past and put the ball into the net past the covering defender.

Crossland got his second goal of the game when right-back Zain Hussain slid a ball through, matching his run and, with a good early finish, tucked it past the keeper into the net.
