AN annual sheep show and sale has once again given a major boost to Manorlands.

The event, organised by Addingham & District Sheep Breeders’ Association, raised more than £5,000 for the Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice.

Over the years, the extravaganza – at Skipton Auction Mart – has coined-in around £55,000 for Manorlands.

In addition to the sheep sold at the latest – 15th – event, items including cakes, produce and shepherd’s crooks donated by members of the farming community went under the hammer.

Proceeds totalled £4,863, nearly £1,000 up on the previous year, with a further boost of about £300 in personal donations.

Adam Brunskill. Manorlands’ Craven area fundraiser and a former member of Worth Valley Young Farmers Club, said: "Addingham Sheep Breeders and Craven Cattle Market have once again done us proud, raising a fantastic amount for the hospice. This will help us to continue to be there for local families when it matters and provide our compassionate palliative care and bereavement support in our hospice and in the community. We are extremely grateful for the amazing and continued support of the farming community."

The event champion was shown by Joe Throup, who farms with his family at Draughton.
