HOME Secretary Priti Patel has visited Keighley to learn more about work being carried out to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour.

She met police inspector John Barker and the Keighley Neighbourhood Policing Team to discuss frontline efforts – with partner organisations – to combat crime, and toured the town centre.

The visit was hosted by Keighley MP Robbie Moore.

He said: "The Home Secretary learned about frontline policing operations to tackle drug crime and county lines, but we also discussed some more-complex cases.

"Drug crime has a huge impact on our town. Not only does it affect those who sadly get caught up in these crimes, but it has a large knock-on effect for businesses which suffer from reduced footfall as people are put off visiting. It is only through raising these issues with those at the top that we can begin to see real change.

"I also hosted a meeting with the Home Secretary and a group of parents whose children have gone through horrendous circumstances, as victims of child sexual exploitation. Whilst I have raised these issues directly with her on many occasions, it was vitally important for her to hear from those affected about these tragic events."
