KEIGHLEY Art Club is celebrating more than a century of history.

To mark its 100-plus years, the club is planning to exhibit works from each decade – and hopes the community will get involved.

A spokesperson says: "Records of the exact date of Keighley Art Club’s inception have yet to be found, but a newspaper article from July 1921 describes an exhibition at the library organised by the club.

"To celebrate we hope to exhibit works from across the years and would love to hear from past members and/or their descendants if they have pieces from earlier decades that they're able and willing to loan.

"Also it would be great to hear from organisations or individuals who would like to help with the celebration, especially by loaning exhibition space or sponsoring in other ways.

"Bradford may be the City of Culture 2025, but Keighley has been the town of artists for over a hundred years and the tradition is still going strong."

Anyone able to assist, or interested in joining the club, can contact it via klyartgroup@gmail.com or Facebook. Alternatively, call at a club meeting at Keighley Healthy Living Centre in Scott Street on a Wednesday, between 6.45pm and 8.45pm.
