A SKIPTON business hiring out camper vans for those who favour a staycation is holding an open day on Saturday, October 29, to show what it has to offer.

Oak Valley Campers was started by Skipton businessman Dave Ogden earlier this year and now has a range of five vans on offer. The business idea unfolded after he began hiring out a vehicle he had converted for his own use but never got the time to use.

In April Grace Hill joined the company and was responsible with setting up the website and social media, writing handbooks for the vans and learning how everything in the vans works.

She takes care of the running of the business and helps people with their holiday arrangements.

The Oak Valley Campers website which went live in May with Dave’s van. Now the fleet has been added to and there are now five different camper vans and motorhomes listed and ready for hire.

Grace explained: “The vans are all named after trees, with the first obviously being Oak which is our most luxurious van.

“The vans range from Willow, a lovely little VW T6. Willow is kitted out with a sink, cooker and fridge. The sofa pulls out into a comfortable rock and roll bed. Perfect for your first venture into driving a camper van.

“Then we have Oak and Ash. These two vans are two berths. Both have a shower, toilet, and kitchen area. They have been converted locally, and have slightly different layouts, but plenty of room for two people. Oak also has the benefit of solar panels, satellite TV and an oven.

“The conversion of Cherry has recently been completed and she will soon be available for hire. Cherry has a double bed and a single bed suitable for a child. Fully converted with shower room and kitchen area, Cherry will be a popular choice for a small family.

“Our two motorhomes sleep up to four or seven people for a family getaway. Sycamore is the four berth, with a double bed at the back and another over the cab, it has a shower room, kitchen area and a table and seats.

“The newest addition to the website is Chestnut. It is a beautiful seven berth motorhome, plenty big enough for all the family. It even has a bike rack and a TV.

“Our ethos is to give our customers the best choice of beautiful campers with realistic prices reflecting seasonal changes rather than school holidays. Changeover days are Mondays and Fridays, with a minimum of three nights for bookings. If you live in Skipton, we can drop the van with you and even collect it from your home on your return. You are also welcome to leave your car at our premises for the duration of your trip.

The business is based at Unit 1, Snaygill Industrial Estate. The open day runs from 10am to 4pm. Follow the company on Facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/oakvalleycampers or look on the website: www.oakvalleycampers.com
