RESIDENTS of Springbank Care Home, in Silsden, were treated to Scottish music as well as a healthy portion of haggis, tatties and neeps as they commemorated Burns night on January 25.

The piping of the haggis was carried out by bagpiper Paula Bowes, of the City of Leeds Pipe Band, followed by 45 minutes of songs including Flower of Scotland, Scotland the Brave and Green Grow the Rashes.

Sandra Santos, activities co-ordinator at Springbank said: "Some of our residents are Scottish or of Scottish family background and were happily surprised by the activity.

"One of our Scottish residents had a much stronger accent by the end of the morning, which was very funny. Even his wife who was visiting noticed."

Sandra said the event was more than just providing care but in proving experiences, fun and laughter, making sure residents are enjoying life, being surprised, being alive and happy, making memories.
