MUSICAL adventure Jolly Hockey Sticks is the latest production from KYDZ Keighley Youth Theatre.

KYDZ members, all aged nine to 18, play pupils of an English girls' boarding school who travel to Germany in 1936 for a hockey tournament.

The country is a dangerous place in the days leading up to the Second World War and during the tournament, the schoolgirls find a child whose mother begs them to take her back to England with them.

Meanwhile the teenage pupils get involved with an English spy who is also trying to escape, after taking photographs of a labour camp.

The show, which features 22 children, is being performed at Oakworth Methodist Church on March 3 and 4, at 7.15pm.

Jolly Hockey Sticks, which has been written by KYDZ leaders, is the group's first show since its 16th birthday concert staged last October.

KYDZ was formed in the 2000s from the ashes of HYT, Keighley's youth theatre, which performed original groundbreaking shows in the town for 30 years.

The group has a small number of vacancies for children aged nine and over. Parents of any youngsters interested should call or text 07768 964110 or email Secretary@kydztheatre.co.uk.
