KVU Singers – the choir which began life as Keighley Vocal Union – is staging a 'come and sing' workshop followed by an evening concert.

The event takes place on Saturday, November 11, with the workshop starting at 2pm and the concert five hours later.

Both are at Christ Church, Skipton.

To tie in with the date, KVU conductor and musical director Frank Smith has chosen The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace, by Karl Jenkins, for the performance.

A spokesperson says: "In the piece the composer draws on both sacred and secular texts, all within the framework of the Christian mass, and his use of lyrical passages contrasting with staccato rhythms makes it compelling listening."

Tickets for the workshop are £20. The concert is free, with a retiring collection.
