A Keighley taxi driver was car-jacked after dropping off five people in Long Lee.
The passengers attacked the driver then made off with his black Citroen Dispatch.
The victim was treated in hospital for a head injury and bruising following the Wednesday night assault.
The vehicle was later recovered in Delph Croft View, off Park Wood. Cash was also stolen.
The driver had collected four men and one woman from Keighley town centre at around 11pm.
The group climbed out of the taxi on Thwaites Brow Road then attacked the driver.
DI Mark Long, of Keighley CID, said the incident had left the victim extremely upset.
One suspect is described as 6ft 2in tall, of medium build with dark hair and wearing a dark wooded top with distinct horizontal half-inch stripes across the torso.
Another male had fair hair, 5ft 8in tall with slim build with black jacket with hood.
Another male was smaller than the rest and wearing a dark hooded top. All the suspects were white.
Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information should phone Keighley police on 0845 606 0606 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
