A 135th monthly fundraising event in aid of Manorlands takes place next weekend – with the total raised so far standing at £49,250.

The latest Groovy Happening is upstairs at the Parkside Social Club, Haworth, on Saturday (December 2), at 7.30pm.

Admission is £5, cash only, with all proceeds going to the Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice.

Headlining is Keighley five-piece functions band Hit The Lights.

It comprises vocalist Natalie Rose, Ben Wilson on rhythm guitar, lead guitarist Ben Fairbairn, Graham Alexander on bass and drummer Kyle Riley.

Since it was established in 2018, the band has developed a busy work schedule of weddings, festivals and other events.

On stage first will be Groovy newcomer Geri Ward. With over 25 years' previous experience as a professional vocalist, she has come out of retirement, and will perform solo acoustic cover songs from a range of genres.

Up next are Groovy regulars, Trez Allezkatz.

And they will be followed by The Shakes, making a return visit to the venue. Original band members Jeff Rowland, Steve Wilson and Wayne Marshall are joined by Oliver Halligan on drums and Frank Farkas on lead vocals. The Shakes, established over 40 years ago, play their own songs.
