Robbers threaten taxi man

A taxi driver was told he would be stabbed if he did not hand over his cash to robbers.

The two suspects booked a taxi from Metro Private Hire in Church Street, Keighley, at about 1.10am on Sunday.

The men asked the driver to take them to Gilstead but when they were driving along Crossley Wood Road they asked him to pull over and threatened to stab him.

The driver handed over about £80 to £90 before they told him to get out of the black Vauxhall Vectra, which they then drove off in.

Police are appealing for witnesses and information to the incident or on the whereabouts of the car, registration number FL04 YBD.

Detective Inspector Peter Craig, of Airedale and North Bradford CID, said one suspect was black, chubby, no older than 25, wearing a red top.

The second suspect was white, about 23, wearing a cream hooded top with a thin build.

DI Craig said: "We are appealing for anyone who is aware of anybody who fits these descriptions in Keighley at that time, or making their way to Gilstead, to get in touch."

Anyone with information can call police on 0845 6060606.
