Charity cricketers to back hospital again

Keighley Cricket Academy has presented £1,100 to Airedale Hospital's cancer unit.
The cash was raised last year at the academy's annual charity cricket match, between Keighley Cougars and a Celebrity XI. Six committee members visited the cancer unit to meet Dr Michael Crawford and a senior sister and hand over the cheque. The presentation was made by academy chairman Abid Hussain.
Dr Crawford showed members an ultrasound machine which a previous donation, of £1,600, from the academy had helped buy. He thanked everyone for supporting the cancer unit again and said the backing was appreciated. The unit handles around 7,500 patient visits a year.
Mr Hussain and colleague Rabia Qureshi expressed their appreciation to Tony Lee, Howard Carter, Bob Chapman of Keighley Cricket Club, Malcolm Hoddy and the Cougars for their support over the years.
The next charity match is at Keighley cricket ground on August 6, at 6pm, to which everyone is welcome. All proceeds will again be donated to Airedale Hospital.
