PEOPLE are being urged to lace-up their running shoes for a major annual fundraising event in support of Sue Ryder.

The Keighley 10k and 5k run and walk takes place on Mother's Day, March 10.

Since it was first held nearly two decades ago, the popular fixture has coined-in more than £500,000 for the charity – which runs Manorlands hospice, at Oxenhope.

The routes start and finish at Victoria Park, and take in a section of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal towpath and the grounds of 17th-century National Trust property East Riddlesden Hall. The 10k also takes in Keighley Golf Club.

All participants will receive a bespoke T-shirt.

Advocates of the event include Keighley MP Robbie Moore.

He says: "I would urge everyone to get involved. It promises to be a fantastic event for an exceptional cause.

"I have seen first-hand the positive difference Manorlands is making for people with life-limiting conditions across our area, and this is your chance to contribute to the vital work it does.

"Five and ten kilometres might sound like a stretch, but you don’t have to run it – you can walk the stunning route with friends!"
