TWO top Argentine tango dancers are hotfooting it to Glusburn.

Celeste Cimino and Luciano Millaqueo will perform An Evening in Buenos Aires at the village's community and arts centre on Saturday, March 9.

The professional pair are world championship semi-finalists and defending champions of the prestigious Los Reyes de la Plaza contest.

A spokesperson for Glusburn Community and Arts Centre says: "These rising stars of tango will recreate the ambiance of a Buenos Aires nightclub, supported by dancers from the Northern Tango Society.

"In a joyful programme of live music and dance – against a backdrop of film and images – Luciano and Celeste will transport us from the birth of tango in the first decade of the 20th century, through the golden age of the 1930s and 40s and the heyday of tango’s famous radio and film stars, to the coup d’état of the 1950s and onto the present day. They will explain the fascinating origins of tango’s signature in steps such as the ocho, boleo, gancho and giro.

"It is a marvellous opportunity to learn about the authentic tango, experience the passion, immerse yourself in the music and connect with the cultural heart of Argentina!"

The performance will start at 7.30pm, with doors and the bar open from 7pm.

Tickets can be obtained, priced £16, at gicac.org.uk/whats-on or call the box office on 01535 630223.
