A KEIGHLEY school has hailed an expansion as a reflection of improvements made in recent years.

From 2025, Carlton Keighley will increase the number of places that are available for students in each year group from 150 to 180.

Also, the school – in Green Head Road – has additional capacity for Year 7 pupils during the 2024-25 academic year.

Head of school, Mark Turvey, says the increase reflects "rapid improvements" made since it joined the Carlton Academy Trust in 2019.

Achievements have included a 'good' Ofsted rating, best-ever examination results and global status for its approach to student personal development.

Mr Turvey adds: "Being in a position to offer more young people a high-quality standard of education, aligned to our trust mission of ‘excellence for all’, is a fantastic achievement.

"Having been at the school for over a decade, it is wonderful to see how it has grown and improved to become the school of choice for so many families.

"Community is something that is incredibly important to us, so becoming the trusted provider of education for so many members of our community is wonderful. We look forward to continuing to grow as a hub of excellence for Keighley."
