A CONSTRUCTION firm has celebrated a year of support for Airedale NHS Foundation Trust's official charity.

And the company, Robertson Construction Yorkshire & East Midlands, has pledged its continued backing during 2024.

Its support as a corporate partner has helped several Airedale Hospital and Community Charity initiatives during the past 12 months.

Last May, a team from Robertson took part in the fifth annual dragon boat race organised by Skipton Rotary Club, held at Coniston Cold. Team members were participating in support of the hospital charity's appeal to raise £150,000 for refurbishments to the paediatric waiting and resuscitation areas, and bereavement facilities, in the emergency department. The company plans to enter the race again this year.

At Christmas, the firm backed a festive gift appeal organised by the charity – donating items including games, chocolates and toiletries – and it gave £250 as part of a first-ever Tree of Light venture. "The Christmas tree raised vital funds through the sponsorship of baubles – and Robertson had the huge honour of being the very first headline sponsor and topping the tree!" said an appeal spokesperson.

Jodie Hearnshaw, head of Airedale Hospital and Community Charity, said the company's support had been far reaching.

She added: "Corporate supporters give more than just money. We really do appreciate the time, energy and expertise that Robertson has offered the charity. Working together is a wonderful opportunity to provide the best possible care for local people and the staff that look after them."

Robertson's regional managing director, Jonathan Sizer, says the firm is currently carrying out refurbishment work to a number of areas at the Airedale Hospital site, in Steeton, which has helped it appreciate the "essential" services of the charity.

He adds: "Delivering our works in a live healthcare environment has given us the opportunity to see first-hand the benefits and essential services Airedale Hospital and Community Charity provides. We are proud to continue our support for the meaningful work it delivers.

"Building on the fantastic achievements from 2023, we are committed to furthering our impact throughout this year to ensure patients and staff receive the best possible care and support.

"2024 will be an exciting year for the partnership, with plans already underway."

Airedale Hospital and Community Charity raises funds to support and enhance patient care, employee wellbeing and community services.
