A 'REAL-life adventure story' is promised at the next Lees Methodist Church Meeting Point session.
Tim Bairstow will give an illustrated talk about a journey his grandfather made in 1903 as a purser aboard a cargo ship, to Sweden, Finland and Russia.
Maurice Baren, for the church, says: "These ships were quite small compared to modern vessels and had no modern navigation equipment, but would still have to cope with the storms at sea.
"Tim is well-known locally and this is a fascinating, real-life adventure story not to be missed.
"Everyone is welcome."
The meeting is at the church, opposite Lees Primary School, on Wednesday, April 3.
Parking is available onsite.
Tea and biscuits will be served from 1.45pm, and the talk starts at 2pm.
