COUNCILLOR Gulfraz Hussain is set to be Keighley's next town mayor.
He was nominated at a meeting of Keighley Town Council, with Councillor Chris Herd as deputy.
The nominations are subject to approval at the town council's annual meeting on May 16.
"I'm proud to have been nominated," says Cllr Hussain, who represents Highfield ward.
He served on the town council from 2015-19 and was re-elected last year, serving as deputy mayor for 2023-24.
"My main focus as mayor will be on community cohesion and promoting our wonderful town," Cllr Hussain adds.
Cllr Herd, who represents Bracken Bank and Ingrow, was first elected to the town council in 2016 and has served as vice-chair of the human resources committee.
"It's an immense honour to further my passion for helping the town grow and become successful," he said.
Cllr Herd is also a Bradford district councillor, for Worth Valley ward.
