The winner of the Keighley News Restaurant of the Year award has put his success down to a constantly changing menu.

Mohammed Ayub, owner of Shimla Spice, in South Street, said he was "absolutely delighted" but "not that surprised" to win the award, voted for by the readers of the Keighley News.

Mr Ayub said: "If you look at other restaurants we are always the most full during the week and at the weekend.

"I think the secret to our success is that we listen to our customers and what they want - if you look at the menu now it is completely different to what it was ten years ago.

"At the moment our range of Desi meals are really popular, which are meals with more flavour, and we have been running them for two months now. But the best thing about this award is that it was voted for by the public, the people who come and eat our food, and that is what matters the most."

There is also a branch of Shimla Spice in Shipley run by Mr Ayub's brother, Basharat Hussain, which won the Restaurant of the Year award presented by our sister paper the Telegraph & Argus.

Keighley News readers were asked to vote for their favourite of 12 restaurants in the town featured in the August 7 paper - they could vote via text, phone call or by filling in a coupon. And lucky reader Pamela Mc'Sharry, from Oxenope, was picked out of a hat to enjoy a meal worth £50 at Shimla Spice.
