Smokers in Keighley trying to stub out the habit are being reminded that help is at hand.
The regional NHS said people using its free stop-smoking services were four times more likely to succeed than those going it alone.
Spokesman Paul Johnstone said: “Giving up smoking can be a very difficult thing to do and often willpower alone is not enough. I fear that people are struggling to quit and starting smoking again, when they could be receiving expert advice and support from the NHS — for free. Every day the NHS stop-smoking service helps 100 people in Yorkshire and the Humber to quit. It provides practical advice and the right medication to help you stop smoking in just six weeks.
“The services can be accessed in a variety of different places, ranging from gyms to pharmacies, so you don’t necessarily have to go to your GP practice. You can choose to have either one-to-one support or give up as part of a group, so you can tailor the process to suit you.”
