Blaze hits power supplies to more than 60 homes

A fire in a pole-mounted electrical transformer at Oakworth last night hit power supplies to more than 60 properties in the area.

Firefighters used a dry powder extinguisher to tackle the blaze, in Tim Lane.

One crew from Keighley Fire Station attended the incident, at about 9pm.

Engineers from electricity distribution company YEDL were called out to replace the transformer and power was restored by 7.50am today.

Company spokesman Michael Sargood said the cause of the blaze was under investigation but there was no suggestion of foul play.
