A wife who had the “perfect marriage” has described how her depressed husband fell to his death. In a statement read out at Bradford Coroner’s Court on Friday, Mollie Whitcombe told how her 73-year-old husband, Frank, had become worried about money.
He had recently been told his prostate cancer had not spread. He was on medication for depression but he continued to worry. He fell from an attic window.
The former Bradford and Keighley rugby union player and coach, who lived in Carr Lane, East Morton, was the son of Bradford Northern legend Frank Whitcombe Snr.
His death would have been instantaneous said assistant deputy coroner Paul Marks as he recorded a verdict that Mr Whitcombe had killed himself.
