Sections of the Aire Valley trunk road around Keighley were closed for a time early yesterday evening as black ice caused several accidents.
Rush-hour traffic on the A650 - and the A629 – faced chaos.
At about 5.30pm three vehicles heading eastbound on the Aire Valley road, between Silsden and Keighley, were involved in a collision. No one was injured.
And within the space of half an hour, two vehicles collided with crash barriers on the same stretch of road.
On the route between Keighley and Bingley several cars could be seen skidding and coming to a halt in the middle of the road.
Police closed the sections of road from about 6pm for gritting to be carried out. They were open again by 7.30pm.
