Organisers of a women-only sponsored midnight walk for Manorlands are urging people to step out and sign up.

Sue Ryder Care — the charity that runs the Oxenhope hospice — says the walk will raise vital funds to care for people with chronic, serious illnesses.

The trek takes place on Saturday, May 15, starting at the Bradford & Bingley Rugby Club, in Wagon Lane, Bingley.

Manorlands fundraiser Carly Brunskill said: “Last year’s walk was a fantastic event with such an exciting atmosphere.

“Ladies won’t want to miss out on taking part this year. We are hoping for our biggest turn out yet, which will make it a night to be remembered.

“The Midnight Walk relies on sponsorship to be successful and walkers nationwide raised more than half a million pounds in 2009.

“With even more walkers this year, we want to smash this amount and make a difference to the lives of more people with complex, life limiting conditions.” She offered her thanks to the event’s sponsors, Santander (formerly Bradford & Bingley) and Sainsbury’s supermarket. The walkers will follow a 10-mile circular route, passing through the grounds of the Sainsbury’s store, in Keighley, before returning to their starting point.

At the finish they will each receive a Midnight Walk goody bag, a medal and a breakfast.

From tomorrow until March 5 women can take advantage of an “Early Bird” offer and register to take part at last year’s fee of £12.
