“Name and shame” booklets carrying the photos of six men jailed for violent disorder in Keighley have been delivered house-to-house.

More than 900 copies have gone to residents in the Knowle Park area, where all the men are from.

The sextet was locked up last month for a total of more than 16 years following violence in Queen’s Road, in March 2008, in which weapons were used.

The names and faces of the men are displayed on the front cover of the groundbreaking neighbourhood policing team booklet.

Inside it explains that investigations into other disorder incidents in the town are continuing and warns that anyone tempted to commit violence will be caught and prosecuted.

There is also a thank you to residents who have worked with the police and a chance for people to provide feedback.

Chief Supt Allan Doherty, of Airedale and North Bradford police, said the booklet had been produced in direct response to requests from the public to be kept better informed by the police of the progress of inquiries. He said the recent disorder sentences were an important issue for Keighley and officers had felt it necessary to do all they could to keep people abreast of the situation.

He added: “ We believe this is a good way of keeping people informed about the matters they have raised and hope to use this method across the police division to help keep people aware of issues in their communities.”
