Two support workers are taking the plunge to raise money for a Keighley organisation which helps children with disabilities.
Helen Smith and Peter Whitley are to skydive out of a plane at Grange-over-Sands next month, to raise money for the Clockhouse Project, in Oakworth Road, where they both work.
The Bradford Council-run scheme has a sensory room for the children to use, which the pair want to furnish with new equipment.
Helen, 44, from Denholme, said: “I am a bit claustrophobic so actually it’s going up in the small plane that is currently terrifying me — I might end up jumping out before I’m told!
“Peter was the one who said he fancied doing it and I said I’d do it with him because it is something I’ve always wanted to do and we both decided to raise money for the sensory room.
“We are currently looking for sponsors to help us raise enough to provide new equipment that will be lasting — I’m not jumping out of a plane for a picture that may be broken in a matter of days!”
Users of the service include children with severe autism, behavioural problems or disabilities. They will either visit the project during the day, or in the evening, or at weekends.
To sponsor the pair, send a cheque made payable to Friends of Clockhouse, to the Clockhouse Project, Oakworth Road, Keighley BD21 1QX.
