A Keighley woman will run to raise money for animals in need this winter.
Kathryn Hyde, of Prospect Mount, will take part in the Liverpool Santa Dash.
She will be among thousands of people running, all of whom will be dressed in Santa Claus costumes.
They will follow a five-kilometre route through Liverpool city centre, on Sunday, December 5.
Proceeds from Kathryn’s efforts will go towards a Keighley animal rescue charity called Yorkshire Wildlife Rescue Sanctuaries.
The charity was previously known as Crystal Hedgehog Sanctuary but it no longer only deals with hedgehogs.
Kathryn, 31, who works at a jewellery shop in Ilkley, explained she had volunteered for the charity in the past.
She urged people interested in the plight of neglected and vulnerable animals to support the group, which can be contacted on 01535 674672.
She added: “In January I started a diet with a local slimming club and in 14 weeks I had lost four stone.
“To help me keep the weight off I took up jogging and I’ve now got the bug for it. I’ve gone from only being able to run a few yards to running nine miles a week.”
She paid tribute to the help provided by her weight loss counsellor, Christine Smith, who runs the Lighter Life slimming sessions in Shipley.
