Businesses in Keighley are being urged to get shirty.

A charity is seeking shirt sponsors for a fundraising rugby match featuring the Bees – Bradford and Bingley Rugby Club.

Cancer Support Bradford and Airedale said sponsoring companies’ logos would be emblazoned on the Bees’ shirts for the December 11 event.

Hayley Collis, fundraiser for the charity, said: “By sponsoring the shirts, companies will not only benefit from fabulous exposure at the event itself but will have the satisfaction of knowing their marketing money is being put to very good use.

“We are unique in the region in that we provide personal one-to-one, face-to-face cancer support. No other charity in the area is able to do this.

“A special commemorative shirt has been designed specifically for this match, which will feature all the sponsors’ logos and our own redesigned charity logo. Each sponsor will be given a shirt to keep.”

The charity was previously known as Bradford Cancer Support but has revised its name and logo to incorporate mention of the wider Airedale district, which it also supports.

“We have always provided help to people in Airedale but it seems to be our work in Bradford that is better known,” said Hayley.

“By updating our image we hope to reassure people beyond the immediate Bradford area that there is support available for them too. This is our first fundraising initiative to feature the new logo and we are so grateful to the Bees – it should be a terrific match.”

One company that has already committed to sponsoring the shirts is Damart, which has warehousing facilities at Steeton.

Its marketing director John Bottomley said: “Damart is a big fan of the rugby club and the charity, which both do excellent work supporting the local community in which we are based.”
