Parkside School, in Cullingworth, has held its own final as part of the School Idol contest.

Eighteen acts made up of students from across the school performed to a sell-out audience.

The external judges were three people who work in the music industry as either producers or singers.

Winners of the audience vote were year 12 students Macauley Fox, Josh Brookes and Reece Holt performing We Are The Hour.

Winner of the judges’ vote was Misguided, a street dance group made up of Josh Bingham, Josh Holmes, Elliot Smith, Ruben Ritterband, Olivia Sutcliffe, Niamh Bonham, Georgie Umpleby, Ellice Campbell, Sam Robinson, Heather Mitchell, Lucy Heaton and Sally Brown.

Hayley Russell, head of Parkside’s music department, said organisers praised the “incredible talent” of the pupils.

The two winning acts will compete in the national School Idol semi-final next February.

The winner will perform on the BBC’s Children in Need event and have their work professionally recorded.
