Workers at a Keighley company have been showing off their new moustaches across the world.

Customers of Harrison and Clough Ltd on several continents have learned about the men’s fundraising exploits.

One member of the import team used interpreters to explain his charity efforts while visiting the Far East.

The 17 members of staff were taking part in the national Movember campaign in aid of prostate cancer research.

They were sponsored to grow moustaches throughout November. The moustaches could then be shaved off on Tuesday. Around £2,500 is expected to be raised by the company for the Prostate Cancer Charity.

This includes £100 collected on one evening this week when the men went out around Skipton.

Harrison and Clough Ltd, based in Aireworth Road, at Stockbridge, employs more than 220 people, mostly from the Keighley area.

It supplies fixings and fasteners to merchants around the UK, including brands sourced from the Far East.

Import manager Chris Barrett led the fundraising efforts for Movember, with directors Steve Hey and Gregg Latham joining in.

Updates were given to UK customers as part of a weekly email sent out offering Harrison and Clough’s latest deals. Chris said the Movember campaign — which began in Australia several years ago — was supported well by Harrison and Clough’s customers.

But he said: “We have a few upset girlfriends. If my moustache doesn’t come off, I think I’ll be out!”

Another worker, Mark Dorrington, said the team was pushed to the “hair-lipped edges of sensibility” while attending key meetings across the world.

He said: “I’ve just returned from the Far East meeting our key suppliers and explaining charity facial hair growth through interpreters is no mean feat.

“Our commercial manager, Mark Revak, has had similar comments meeting our key customers in Ireland.”
