A small group of pupils has been chosen to travel to a school in Sri Lanka.
The four students from Holy Family Catholic School, in Keighley, wrote application letters to win places on the trip to Matara Central College.
Elsie O’Dwyer and Harriet Purvis, who are in year 12, along with year 10 pupils Giovanna Fedorniak and Sam Snowdon, will fly out on February 12.
They will be accompanied by special educational needs co-ordinator Andrea Pritchard and faculty leader for humanities Cath Owens.
The two staff members visited the same Sri Lankan school last year.
The students said they were happy to have been selected and were excited at the prospect of going somewhere they had never been before.
They explained they would stay for ten days, during which time they would see how Sri Lankan school lessons were delivered. They will also demonstrate some British cookery, go to the country’s capital city Colombo and visit a national park.
To help raise funds for the trip there will be a ceilidh at Holy Family this Saturday. All are welcome and tickets are available from the school office.
