Children from St Anne’s Primary School, in Keighley, are on song.

They have reached the finals of the Bradford and District Schools Choir Competition.

The St Anne’s youngsters will contest the BD1 Live Goes Choral final against five other schools, at St George’s Hall, Bradford, this Saturday.

The judge will be Bazil Mead, from the BBC’s Last Choir Standing series.

The winning choir will perform Oh Happy Day, from Sister Act, on stage with the London Community Gospel Choir and will have the chance to record its winning song at a professional studio.

St Anne’s choir member Antonia Dunbar, 10, said she was delighted when she learned they had reached the final. “I just started screaming because it was so good – it’s the first competition we’ve done so it was a big amazement to get through and I just can’t wait for the final now,” she said.

Bernadette Charles, the choir leader and music teacher, said: “All the children have worked really hard and are very committed.

“We are so thrilled at getting through to the finals and I am so proud of each of them.”

Choir member Jiya Cherian, 10, said she was confident they could do well on Saturday.

She added: “If we all practice really hard and our voices unite together then we have got a really good chance of becoming the winners.”
