Boozed-up troublemakers have been threatened with a ban from Keighley town centre.

Five people – including three women – have been served with Anti-Social Behaviour Contracts (ABCs).

If they continue to cause problems, the authorities will seek a ban.

The ABCs have been issued after public concern about the behaviour, near the Airedale Shopping Centre and bus station, of the five – two men aged 34 and 35 and women aged 23, 31 and 58.

The contracts include conditions that the group must not drink alcohol in public places, shout abuse or generally behave anti-socially. If the terms are breached, full Anti-Social Behaviour Orders will be sought.

Sgt Steph Fox, of Keighley Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “We have been focusing on these five people – plus two others who have not yet been issued with ABCs – over the past six weeks due to concerns about their behaviour towards others.

“The sight of people drinking alcohol in public, acting in a disorderly fashion and being abusive towards others is not something we or the general public will tolerate in this town.

“The men and women in question have all been warned they are on their last chance.”

Inspector Wayne Horner said maintaining recent reductions in anti-social behaviour in the town remained a priority.

He said anyone with concerns about anti-social behaviour should contact the Keighley Neighbourhood Policing Team on (01535) 617119.
