An evening of nostalgia and treats were in store for an unsuspecting audience when this society performed their spring concert, transporting us back to the 1940s.

We sang along with a very talented cast, over 40 strong, were entertained by a mind reader, laughed at a monologue and listened to spell binding solos and duets.

A string quartet played -- disappointingly treated as back ground music as people returned after refreshments -- they deserved more attention.

Mention must be made of the sketch 'Allo 'Allo, which was superbly done by a young cast, heightened by their obvious enthusiasm and the hilarious phoney French accents!

The finale was amazing with the singing of "We'Ll Meet Again" simultaneously with Gordon Balmforth's new song "Sing A Happy Song". It worked superbly.

I understand the composer came to the Saturday performance. Well done everybody! The show was ably directed by Michael Lofthouse and conducted by Pamela Dimbleby.
