A nightclub is hosting an event to raise money for the family of a Keighley teacher left in a coma after being attacked in Thailand.

The Adam Pickles Fancy Dress Fundraiser will take place in K2, in High Street, Keighley, tomorrow night.

Mr Pickles, 40, has been in a coma since being hit on the head with a metal bar in an assault in the Thai city of Pattaya on May 17. He is now back in England and is being treated at Leeds General Infirmary.

The new manager of K2, Jonathan Barbour, explained: “I was approached by a friend of Adam’s family about carrying out a fundraising event to raise money to help the family pay for the costs of care and Adam’s flight home.

“After talking to my bosses at Timothy Taylor’s, it was decided that we would dedicate the whole venue to the cause and do one big fancy dress party. We’re charging a minimum of £4 entry but donations will be accepted of higher value. All the proceeds will go straight to Adam’s family.

“I’m trying to involve local businesses to give gifts that can be raffled off on the night to raise extra funds. A DJ is providing his service free of charge. We hope to raise more than £1,000.”

The night will begin at 9pm and continue until 4am. People do not need to book in advance. More details are available online via K2 Nightclub’s Facebook page.
