A joint initiative funded by two councils introduced children to some of the values associated with the Olympics and Paralympics.
More than 300 children from local primary schools participated in ‘Playing for Gold’ at Cliffe Castle Park.
The mini-Olympics initiative used the London 2012 Games as a catalyst for a series of healthy, fun play sessions.
The youngsters were encouraged to create their own unique games, Olympic torches, medals and head wreaths.
The play sessions were run by staff from Bradford Council’s Community Play and Activities Development Unit. Playing for Gold was jointly funded by Keighley Town Council and Bradford Council.
Keighley mayor Councillor George Metcalf said he was very pleased to support the project, adding: “It is wonderful to see children participating in the various sports and games.”
A spokesman for the Council expressed thanks to Stephen Kennedy from Autoprint, who sponsored the event.
