Speed-cutting measures set to be passed

Anti-speeding measures are set to be approved tonight (Thursday, July 19) for roads in Oakworth, Haworth, Thwaites and Spring Gardens Lane.

Keighley Area Committee will decide where to spend this year's £134,000 budget for traffic management measures in Keighley and Ilkley. The bulk of the Bradford Council money is likely to go on traffic calming and pedestrian improvements in various parts of Keighley.

The recommendations include £20,000 for pedestrian facilities, signs and lining in Oakworth Road near its junction with Fell Lane and Kensington Street. A further £20,000 could be spent on additional traffic calming in Parkwood Street, Thwaites Bridge and Wenning Street.

Traffic calming is also planned for the lower section of Spring Gardens Lane (£15,000), and traffic calming and access-only restrictions on Providence Crescent in Oakworth (£12,000). Speed reduction measures in West Lane, Haworth, could include a vehicle-activated sign.
