Open day postponed after pollution scare
3:20pm Monday 23rd July 2012 in News By Alistair Shand
An open day planned for tomorrow at Doe Park Activities Centre, Denholme, has been postponed following a pollution incident.
Tests are being carried out by the Environment Agency after dead fish were found in the reservoir.
Bradford Council has rescheduled the open day for August 6 and school and youth groups due to enjoy kayaking and canoeing activities this week will instead use the River Aire and Leeds-Liverpool Canal.
Phil Barker, the Council’s assistant director for sport and leisure, said: "We are very sorry that we have had to cancel tomorrow's open day due to these unforeseen circumstances but we hope people will still be able to come along and enjoy what the water activities centre has to offer on August 6.
"We have also done our best to reorganise all the activities that we had planned this week so that the groups booked in can still enjoy a fantastic week.
"We hope to be able to reopen Doe Park as soon as possible but are reliant on the Environment Agency's investigations and hope that whatever the problem is, it can be quickly resolved."
