Charity help is all the fashion

A Keighley group offering counselling and practical support for people with cancer plans to stage a charity fashion show.

Keighley and Airedale Cancer Support will hold the event in November, though the exact date and venue has still to be confirmed. All the proceeds will go towards funding the organisation’s work in the community.

Cancer support group co-founder Adele Smithurst said she and her colleagues were asking people to donate quality women’s and men’s clothing and accessories, which will be used in the fashion show. Items will be modelled and also sold at the event.

Mrs Smithurst, of Cross Hills, said: “We’re also looking for donations of quality new goods which can be used as raffle prizes, and we’d like to hear from a local celebrity who would be interested in compering the show.”

Donations of clothes or raffle prizes can be dropped off at the reception desk of Keighley Civic Centre, in North Street.

Keighley and Airedale Cancer Support is based in the centre.

The group will be selling handmade jewellery at a stall at Keighley Show on Saturday. Mrs Smithurst said her organisation was now looking for more people to join up as volunteer counsellors and helpers.

She said people could register their interest by leaving their contact details at Keighley Civic Centre reception.
