South Craven MP Julian Smith takes his surgeries online
4:27pm Thursday 20th September 2012 in News By Keighley News reporter
South Craven MP Julian Smith is launching online surgeries.
He is adding the internet sessions to regular surgeries held across his Skipton and Ripon constituency.
The move is part of Mr Smith’s campaign to improve broadband access in North Yorkshire.
He is hosting a second Broadband North Yorkshire Conference, at Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Visitor Centre, next Saturday, September 29.
His first online surgery will be on November 2, at 1pm.
Mr Smith said: “I know that with such a vast constituency it is sometimes difficult for people to travel to meet me at my surgeries - that is why connecting more homes and businesses to the internet is so important and I am pleased the Broadband North Yorkshire campaign is making positive progress.
“These online surgeries will give those who find it difficult to travel a chance to speak with me directly and I hope more and more people will have the internet connections they need to speak with me in this way in the months and years ahead.”
