'Keighley's Tea in the Park in Keighley is a success'

Keighley’s Tea in the Park has been hailed as a huge success.

Hundreds of people attended Saturday’s event, which was held in Lund Park.

A huge range of entertainment and activities were on offer, including cycling and basketball competitions, drummers, DJs, a mobile skatepark and artwork.

The Play Rangers were present, there were Zumba, hula-hooping and bokwa demonstrations and local band Wooden Machine performed.

Low Fold Family Centre provided activities for the under-fives and Bradford's Summer of a Lifetime project presented dance and a radio station.

Organisation of the annual event was overseen by the Lund Park Community Group, but young people were at the heart of it.

“We had about 20 mostly-young volunteers helping and lots of young people from different backgrounds came along,” said community group member Jo Horrox.

“It was absolutely fantastic. There was something for everybody and the atmosphere was just really chilled. Even the weather was good to us.”

Jo added: “We first held this event about five years ago and we have kept it going because it has been so popular. This year we specifically wanted to get more young people involved and that was a real success.”
