Driver banned after insurance offence
2:16pm Thursday 27th September 2012 in News
A man who allowed a Nissan Primera car to be driven without insurance at Kildwick was banned from driving for six months and fined £600 by Skipton magistrates on Friday.
Ranjit Singh, of Leeds Road, Eccleshill, failed to notify the court of his plea and the case against him was proved in his absence. Caroline Midgley, prosecuting, said Singh was the owner of the car and was in the passenger seat when the offence was committed on June 26.
When officers checked whether there was valid insurance with the AA, they were told the policy had expired.
The 49-year-old was also ordered to pay £45 court costs and a £15 victims surcharge.
