Dedicated Manorlands team is setting pace
7:00am Saturday 29th September 2012 in News By Alistair Shand
The Airedale Dodgers Running Club, part of the Manorlands team in the Great North Run, prepares Mo Farrah-style before the event
Record numbers took part in the Great North Run to raise money for Manorlands.
An unprecedented 81 of the 150-plus runners on the Sue Ryder team were supporting the Oxenhope hospice.
And together they are on track to coin in more than £25,000.
After completing the world-famous half-marathon, the team was invited to celebrate its achievement at the Sue Ryder tent in the charity village where the runners were treated to drinks, snacks and a complimentary massage from physiotherapists.
Hayley Ibbotson, Manorlands’ running and challenge fundraiser, said: “I would like to thank each and every one of our 81 runners for taking the time and dedication to not only train for a half-marathon, but raise such a fantastic amount of money in the process.
“Each of them has worked so hard and their fantastic support will help us continue to provide incredible care to our patients and families, taking us a step closer to raising £1.2 million this year.
“The atmosphere on the day was fantastic and we’re already receiving interest in next year’s event.”
